2016 has been quite some year for the Edit department at VE. We kicked the year off the year with the Brit awards, supplying multiple Mac Pro edit suites and shared storage for a fast-turnaround workflow using Adobe Creative Cloud. We followed that up by supplying multiple suites and multiple chassis’ of shared storage for ‘Bear Grylls’ The Island’.
There’s always time for BVE though, and 2016 was no exception, it was great to catch up with old friends and also meet some new ones along the way, we couldn’t relax too much though as there were plenty of day to day hires around the country to keep us busy including several suites specially built to be both portable enough to take on board a flight as hand luggage and powerful enough for a 4K online edit including ultra fast external raided storage.
We began gearing up for the French Open 2016 in which we supplied guarantee engineers and an Avid Interplay editing infrastructure with a large amount of storage to connect to multiple EVS systems, allowing logging stations and multiple high end editing suites to cater for several broadcasters concurrently.
Following the French Open, we were the first hire company to receive the Avid Nexis Shared storage system, The Nexis allowed us to offer a fast turn-around workflow for multiple edit stations at The Latitude festival in Henham Park which you can read more about in this article written by Avid.
Channel 4’s hit show ‘Hunted’ kept us very busy with multiple edit suites and shared storage capable of accommodating a high quantity of mixed format media, this was an exciting job to be a part of and has been a great watch. We were then off to America for the U.S. Tennis Open, in the same vein as the French Open, we provided equipment and our brilliant engineer JaRoy Buffong who was on site for the duration to guarantee multiple edit suites with grading capabilities and monitors that were all attached to an interplay database environment for quick logging.
Since the U.S. Open we have had a host of other exciting jobs in the U.K and around Europe including the famous ‘Video Europe Christmas doughnut-run’ that everyone in Soho loves us for!
